2017 is almost over and I can't contain my excitement. Read on to know why!

2017 is ending! One thing that made a difference in your life this year?

When you start walking on a road first,  you are completely clueless about where the whole journey will lead. It's always a never-ending road. But life throws you with surprises - some are there to make you happy, and some to make you stronger.

Which one was it for you this year?

I can't hold my happiness as I announce that my poem has been published in an anthology of poems - eBook published by Half Baked Beans, alongside other 36 talented contributors. It has a mixed theme.

This came as a complete surprise to me when I was informed that one of my poems got selected for the anthology which is compiled and edited by none other than the famous and great personality, Megha Rao. And special thanks to Half Baked Beans for providing us, the budding writers with a platform to showcase our works.

The blurb of the book reads -

"Reading poetry is like visiting a spa, where the reader forgets the trials of mundane exhausting life and lets soothing words do a job of stress-busters for him. This assorted collection of poems does just that!

This is a compilation of human emotions drawn from the deepest reserves of imagination. Laced with satire, humor, grief and insurmountable love, these poems are what make you feel better on days when 'the blues' couldn't get any bluer.

Meticulously crafted with passion and love by several poets, this is the first in a series.
Sense the surge as these electrical, dramatic, and yet gentle words take you on a topsy-turvy ride."

Reasons

Reasons were all you ever had!
Calling them your children
yet, you had them starve
Was that something they really deserved?

Your mind versatile,
The fair undermined,
There stood the rich and poor
Behind the door

My child! Stop this game,
Love and Hate,
You entered the palace gate,
Now it's too late

Nothing was supposed to go wrong
Everything was going strong
Drowning in your pride, you said,
“I’ll fix everything up”

In the process, your anger
devoured our mother earth.
From being a creator to a destroyer,
all you ever said was -
“I had my reasons.”

A Moment of Pride

A shooting star
Fulfilling all our wishes
Waiting patiently
To get over our failures

A time will come
Where we can feel the difference
In the distance
We have traveled so far

I have in me,
A spirit to rise
And indulge in the moment of pride.

Love Letter to a very special #MagicOfLove

"I'm in love with you, and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I'm in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that were all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we'll ever have, and I am in love with you."

We all wish for love like Augustus and Hazel someday.
Every love story has its own magic. Love is not something we all wait for, it just happens.

A love letter for my future love, so that when I cross paths with him someday, I could draw this letter out from the pocket of my overcoat and hand it over to him before we part ways -

"To the very special you,

I remember the beautiful morning, my eyes waking up to a bright sunlight reflecting through the large window. I smell the aroma of the coffee beans coming from the next door; the couple singing together to the cooing of the birds.

A broad smile etched on my face, I dream of a fairy tale...

Draped in exotic fragrance
You hold in your cup
The black silk coffee
Let me drink into it
And leave behind the taste
Of our sweet and bold love.

I have got a long day today, but as I write this, I hope this letter finds you in the pink of health. I know you wait for me somewhere in the future…

In the heart of winter,
Waiting to be embraced
While we try to touch one’s soul
The cold wind blowing
Whispers the moan…

The only thing I ask of you is trust. We will ride together the roller coasters of life; engulf me in your dark secrets and I will try to bring a ray of hope into it. I promise to be your shining stars in the dark nights.

If I lay here
By your side,
Will you hold my hand
And stare at the stars?
Bury all your secrets in my skin
And slip away into dreams.

Let us fall in love. Give me a pen and our love will stay alive forever. I want to fly and tell the whole world about it. And when we grow old together, I want you to hold my hand and read this letter to me.

I know, in a parallel universe, you have already found this letter. You smile at me and say,” Let us disappear and create a new love story. We’ll meet again under the sun and the stars, the sky and the clouds. And I’ll read this letter to you again.”

I love you
'N'

#MagicOfWarmth Moments

“Who gets excited for one’s birthday?”
“It’s just another day.”
“Why create the fuss?!”
She had all of this running through her mind, as she struggled to tell herself that tomorrow she is going to be 18 and there’s no big deal about it.

She had nothing planned for her big day and carried no expectations. But who knew something big was already in store for her. She went to her sleep expecting the midnight birthday calls, and on asked upon what her plans were for the so-called big day, she had them by replying that it was going to be a simple lunch out with few of her close friends. And that was it. She was done with her midnight calls and dozed off.

The sun was up. The door bell rang. And what was on the other side of the door was her first surprise. Two of her friends showed up with the cakes and the gifts. The day has just started, and that was just the beginning. It followed up with much more when one by one all of her other friends started to show up, and every time she heard a doorbell, she couldn’t be more surprised.

They took her to a long drive and by the time, she returned back, her room was decorated in a way she couldn’t have imagined. She wore that smile on her face the whole day. She took them out on a cruise for the evening on the river of the Brahmaputra, and the evening was full of merriment and joy. They danced, they drank and they clicked all of the memories they could capture together.

She still had no clue on who could have planned so much for her, to make her feel special like she deserved it. She enquired but none opened up to her. A mystery she was trying to solve all day, but no one would help her.

When she returned home after her long and beautiful day, she found a paper lying on her mom’s bedside. She went near and picked up the paper. What followed next shocked her completely, and she couldn’t just believe her eyes. It had all the numbers of her friends. She knew then, it was her. It couldn’t be anybody else. Her eyes welled up with tears of happiness.

She just rushed to her mom at that moment. She gave her a big smile and they both hugged.

My Heart Moves from Cold to Fire

My heart moves from cold to fire
What it is that you wish to acquire
From burning my name to ashes
You threw my entire integrity into trashes

You have got blood in your hands
That you can never wash away
‘Cause I'll reckon to remind you
Of each scar
Ablaze with a single desire

In this treacherous realm
Where my heart was crushed open
The blazing heat
Set it afire

Now face the consequences
But, before you tell me
What is it that you wish to acquire?
For you made my heart move from cold to fire.

IDEAS FOR 2017

With 2017 already on a start, shouldn’t we have a few things list out to be done before this year ends? I know, everything we plan on is not going to happen, but let’s take a step towards it so that we just don’t let out life go waste. Because life is short.
So lock yourself up in a room, drink on the wine, play some good soothing music and sit down for doing some self-discovery. Open up a diary and jot down all the self-realization that dawn upon you at that moment of time. But before you get excited about it, I wish to share with you a few of my own list, I plan on doing this year -

#1 Be an Active Blogger, no matter how busy life gets. Even when there would be 9 to 6 work life, even when there would be some family crisis, I plan on following ‘one post a week’ religiously.  No compromise.

#2 A Career Start: I realized writing ‘I am a recent graduate …’ on my cover letter is soon going to expire, if I don’t do some serious job hunt and give a start to my career life. May be at this point of time, I am not sure if I want to convert my hobby of writing into a career, or use my creativity for the marketing start, or the worse, pursue finance for my love for the numbers. It gets all too confusing, but I feel it’s time to get into the field and start acting.
#3 Take an Online Course, it’s free and plus, it expands your horizon. A commerce student can brush up on web developing course: HTML, CSS, and JAVA. It’s not harmful after all.
#4 Read no less than 24 Books, yeah, you heard it right. Last year I had this same resolution of reading 2 books a month, but I couldn’t keep up till the end. I had read only 15 books last year. But this time I am going to stand strong on my ground, and not disappoint myself. And hey, my favorite of all the books I read last year is ‘The Catcher in the Rye.’ Perhaps, I will talk about it in details in my next blog post.Don't hesitate yourself from picking up that book, if you still haven't.
From my book collection!
#5 Try Something New: I’m thinking on chopping off my hair short, or get a tattoo inked. But recently, I have been told by a person that tattoo should be a gift by someone, something to remember by always. So until I land on some super ideas for my tattoo, I am going to stick to experiment with my hair.
#6 Meeting New People is going to be a lot of fun. ‘New people, new stories.’ I have no clue how I am going to do that, but I am sure not going to stop myself from interacting with new people out there if I get an opportunity. Or maybe I can try some apps for this. Ah! Let’s see how this pan out. I'm excited!

Fly high!
#7 Travel Plans: This one is going to be very tough. I am that person who misses out on the family functions happening at different cities, sometimes due to exams, sometimes this and that. Of course, I do have a great house party when my parents are out of town, but travelling is travelling. I promise to take a single trip this year at least , either with friends or family and not going to miss on a slight chance of running away. More like a getaway!
#8 Less Over Thinking: Stop! Nothing is going to happen. Are you sure?  Think again. Think. Don’t stop. I know, it gets worse sometimes. Too many thoughts, which eventually leads to anxieties and nervousness. I can’t stop thinking all together. Thinking is important but not over thinking. I know I need to work on it, and meditation is going to help me through this.
#9 More handwriting:  Read an article few week ago, that said,”Write Offline, Read Online.” It went further by saying how handwriting is a dying art.  Writing by hand helps to think more sequentially and keeps our mind active. Since I love to write poems and short stories, I am going to opt for posting more of hand written post rather than using the digital illustrations. You can find my writings at -https://www.instagram.com/_poetic_melody/ .Don’t forget to follow me and leave your feedback. I will love to read. :)
My handwritten art!
#10 Leave a Blank: Surprise yourself. Everything doesn’t need to be planned out. Something just happens. So this is going to be left blank for now to be filled later.

I hope you had a great time reading and I might have been able to inspire you a bit with this post. Don’t waste much time now and get going already.
Spread smile and spread the words.
And a Happy New Year, Readers!

Things I Love

Eeriness of the silent night
The sound of the tidal waves crushing against the rocks
To walk over the footprints on the beach
To see if I could fit in

No story is symmetrical
Each has its own twists and plots;
The sound of the laughter
Contradicts the silent cry
That couldn't be heard

Castles built on the sand,
Getting washed away in a pulse
Yet again, another one is built
Like a constant battle

Holding every ounce of it
So gracefully,
The sand and the beach
Are the things I love!

Mother's Day

"I love my Mom." We all do, don't we? But as we grow up, we forget all the sweet memories she has created for us by sacrificing her own happiness, to make us what we are today. We don't remember the hard times when she held our hand tight, and promised us that things will get alright or the times she made us happy by fulfilling all our wishes. With the growth of civilization (what we call it modernization today), we are letting the greed of living a luxury life to take over our virtues. There are 728 Old Age homes in India today. The number of resident in old-age home is increasing manifold. This poem gives a gruesome picture of the reality. Happy Mother's Day Humming happily along the music The oven sent out a ping, Adding to the joyous song The dishes were ready Pressure cooker whistled its final blow The kids clapped along, Drooling over the mouth-watering dishes Gluttonously munched on the brunch Mother filled her champagne glass A sweet smile on their faces A handmade card to celebrate The Mother’s day, A picture of a lady hugging her children The words written on it- “You’re the best Mom…” She couldn't hold her tears As she recalled this day, Where now she sits in an old-age home Abandoned by her children Celebrating Mother’s day Alone.

My Quirky Friend

Her eyes glisten with a mysterious smile
Every sentence dribbles out
Of her mouth
In a jocular mood...

Crack the codes if you can,
There you go, my friend
A hearty laugh fills the room.

With her loud laughter
Grabs everyone’s attention;
Couldn't be hidden
Just sing it along.

Her quirkiness and weirdness
Keeps the group alive
Oh, she has her list of
Dos and don’t’s
Yet makes every heart smile.

A drama queen,
We like to call her
She triumphs at her pseudonym
And rejoice at her perkiness.

Distortion

In the real world,
The struggle for finding oneself
Seeking spiritual attainment
For the quest of the query

The shadow of tree
Tells a different story
Of the reality distorted;
The unreal world
As likely to be called

An enlightenment of unreality,
An intuitive work of schizophrenia
Been blinded by the unreal distortion
Of the real world.

#PrayerForNepal

After what has happened to Nepal, my heart goes out to them...

We Shall Rise Again

Victims lay strangled
In the tumultuous upheaval
That has befallen upon us
We extend our help
And pray to the almighty
To show us some mercy

Oh my, dear ones
Keep faith in thy Lord
It’s when we stay strong
The avalanches of grief and pain
Of the lost ones separated
We shall play our roles
and call for our duty
We shall stay united
For this soon shall pass!

Oh, tell me, what should I believe?
Is it just the end,
or the beginning of some transformation?
We need not fear
Nothing can tear us apart
Mother Earth, hear your children hymn!

NEW HORIZON

Wandering on the streets

Mesmerized by its serenity

The calmness of the eerie sky

Radiates a warmth so soothing

The heavy tread of the boots

The gloomy brightness of the street lights

Mind flickered with thoughts

All the madness buried under the layer

It disappeared beyond the horizon of hope.

Winter Love

In the heart of winter,
let us embrace ourselves
And touch one's soul
The cold wind blowing
Whispers the moan
Of your delicate touch
I feel the electric chill
Down my spine.

Wrap your arms around me,
Protect me from the wintry cloak,
The frozen river
Melt it with your warm breath
You exhale from your lips
I can feel upon,
Let the river flow
Your fingers running
Along my skin.

You and I,
Let us sail together
Into the warm water
And hide from the wintry storm.

"Dark and Twisty"

Things aren't always meant to be the way we want it to be. One moment you are really happy, only to find the next moment a bomb was dropped to shatter all your hopes; all your beliefs, you knew that won’t last, like the previous one. But still negotiating with our heart, raising above all the blackened sights, we are ready to take the challenge, face the risk that stands against us, to make ourselves understand that life is meant to be this way. Every time we are able to dodge a hurdle from our way, we feel competent enough to survive this game of life. To let ourselves feel proud of how we are winning the game named ‘Survival of the Fittest’ and how perfectly we are suited for the competition.

But between all this race; this competition, we all, for once, want to sought solace in the company of warm hands and soothing voice that speaks tranquility, but not to be sympathize, who understand the difference of what is to be praised, but not pitied. Before we even realize, all the damage is done and there’s nothing we could do, time seems to move in slow motion and we can’t make it stop. We don’t feel the need to regret because that is how we choose to repair; to glue all the broken parts together.  Call it ‘Dark and Twisty’ for that is how it is meant to be, isn't it?

Women's Pride

She was born, they groaned
She was torn, they moaned

She cried, they sighed
She was ignored of her rights.

She was born, they adored

She was torn, they beloved
She cried, they dried
She had a fairy life.

She sobbed, she hoped

She wailed, she assailed
She tried, she fought
She filed her droit.

They set off to ride

the journey of pride.
Together they unveiled
the societies vile.

Happy Mother's Day

A Mother and a Child Was Born

The dark vault was filled with light
Echoed with delight
The iciness was taken over
A  warmness formed the cover
An upsurge in her spirit
With every passing day
The bulge she felt
She screeched with pain
The pain that brought a new life
A mother and a child was born.

Walking Out Of The Darkness

Sitting alone in the dark
Searching  for  directions
Trying to feel the numb heart
She decided to, for once, let herself flow
Allow herself to get swept away ;
With the emotions.

She finds tranquility in the darkness;
she can see through the darkness;
Darkness camouflages all her scars.
A beam of light can break her,
Break her into pieces;
Unleash her Bats.
Voids of perfidy pricks as she recalls,
She knows her emotional trauma will come alive
She’s afraid, what if the walls break down?

Deep down, she wants to feel the pain
to wash that pain away;
to feel her life;
to live it;
Tired of mere existence.
There’s an adrenaline rush in her body
She stands up to step out,
where the sun rays fall upon her
burning the pain,
releasing the heat inside.

To see the rays cut through her pain
extricating her of all the anguish,
making her feel alive once again.
For all it takes is a mustered strength
to bring her back into life.
