2017 is almost over and I can't contain my excitement. Read on to know why!

2017 is ending! One thing that made a difference in your life this year?

When you start walking on a road first,  you are completely clueless about where the whole journey will lead. It's always a never-ending road. But life throws you with surprises - some are there to make you happy, and some to make you stronger.

Which one was it for you this year?

I can't hold my happiness as I announce that my poem has been published in an anthology of poems - eBook published by Half Baked Beans, alongside other 36 talented contributors. It has a mixed theme.

This came as a complete surprise to me when I was informed that one of my poems got selected for the anthology which is compiled and edited by none other than the famous and great personality, Megha Rao. And special thanks to Half Baked Beans for providing us, the budding writers with a platform to showcase our works.

The blurb of the book reads -

"Reading poetry is like visiting a spa, where the reader forgets the trials of mundane exhausting life and lets soothing words do a job of stress-busters for him. This assorted collection of poems does just that!

This is a compilation of human emotions drawn from the deepest reserves of imagination. Laced with satire, humor, grief and insurmountable love, these poems are what make you feel better on days when 'the blues' couldn't get any bluer.

Meticulously crafted with passion and love by several poets, this is the first in a series.
Sense the surge as these electrical, dramatic, and yet gentle words take you on a topsy-turvy ride."

Reasons

Reasons were all you ever had!
Calling them your children
yet, you had them starve
Was that something they really deserved?

Your mind versatile,
The fair undermined,
There stood the rich and poor
Behind the door

My child! Stop this game,
Love and Hate,
You entered the palace gate,
Now it's too late

Nothing was supposed to go wrong
Everything was going strong
Drowning in your pride, you said,
“I’ll fix everything up”

In the process, your anger
devoured our mother earth.
From being a creator to a destroyer,
all you ever said was -
“I had my reasons.”

A Moment of Pride

A shooting star
Fulfilling all our wishes
Waiting patiently
To get over our failures

A time will come
Where we can feel the difference
In the distance
We have traveled so far

I have in me,
A spirit to rise
And indulge in the moment of pride.

My Heart Moves from Cold to Fire

My heart moves from cold to fire
What it is that you wish to acquire
From burning my name to ashes
You threw my entire integrity into trashes

You have got blood in your hands
That you can never wash away
‘Cause I'll reckon to remind you
Of each scar
Ablaze with a single desire

In this treacherous realm
Where my heart was crushed open
The blazing heat
Set it afire

Now face the consequences
But, before you tell me
What is it that you wish to acquire?
For you made my heart move from cold to fire.

Things I Love

Eeriness of the silent night
The sound of the tidal waves crushing against the rocks
To walk over the footprints on the beach
To see if I could fit in

No story is symmetrical
Each has its own twists and plots;
The sound of the laughter
Contradicts the silent cry
That couldn't be heard

Castles built on the sand,
Getting washed away in a pulse
Yet again, another one is built
Like a constant battle

Holding every ounce of it
So gracefully,
The sand and the beach
Are the things I love!

Mother's Day

"I love my Mom." We all do, don't we? But as we grow up, we forget all the sweet memories she has created for us by sacrificing her own happiness, to make us what we are today. We don't remember the hard times when she held our hand tight, and promised us that things will get alright or the times she made us happy by fulfilling all our wishes. With the growth of civilization (what we call it modernization today), we are letting the greed of living a luxury life to take over our virtues. There are 728 Old Age homes in India today. The number of resident in old-age home is increasing manifold. This poem gives a gruesome picture of the reality. Happy Mother's Day Humming happily along the music The oven sent out a ping, Adding to the joyous song The dishes were ready Pressure cooker whistled its final blow The kids clapped along, Drooling over the mouth-watering dishes Gluttonously munched on the brunch Mother filled her champagne glass A sweet smile on their faces A handmade card to celebrate The Mother’s day, A picture of a lady hugging her children The words written on it- “You’re the best Mom…” She couldn't hold her tears As she recalled this day, Where now she sits in an old-age home Abandoned by her children Celebrating Mother’s day Alone.

My Quirky Friend

Her eyes glisten with a mysterious smile
Every sentence dribbles out
Of her mouth
In a jocular mood...

Crack the codes if you can,
There you go, my friend
A hearty laugh fills the room.

With her loud laughter
Grabs everyone’s attention;
Couldn't be hidden
Just sing it along.

Her quirkiness and weirdness
Keeps the group alive
Oh, she has her list of
Dos and don’t’s
Yet makes every heart smile.

A drama queen,
We like to call her
She triumphs at her pseudonym
And rejoice at her perkiness.

Distortion

In the real world,
The struggle for finding oneself
Seeking spiritual attainment
For the quest of the query

The shadow of tree
Tells a different story
Of the reality distorted;
The unreal world
As likely to be called

An enlightenment of unreality,
An intuitive work of schizophrenia
Been blinded by the unreal distortion
Of the real world.

#PrayerForNepal

After what has happened to Nepal, my heart goes out to them...

We Shall Rise Again

Victims lay strangled
In the tumultuous upheaval
That has befallen upon us
We extend our help
And pray to the almighty
To show us some mercy

Oh my, dear ones
Keep faith in thy Lord
It’s when we stay strong
The avalanches of grief and pain
Of the lost ones separated
We shall play our roles
and call for our duty
We shall stay united
For this soon shall pass!

Oh, tell me, what should I believe?
Is it just the end,
or the beginning of some transformation?
We need not fear
Nothing can tear us apart
Mother Earth, hear your children hymn!

NEW HORIZON

Wandering on the streets

Mesmerized by its serenity

The calmness of the eerie sky

Radiates a warmth so soothing

The heavy tread of the boots

The gloomy brightness of the street lights

Mind flickered with thoughts

All the madness buried under the layer

It disappeared beyond the horizon of hope.

Winter Love

In the heart of winter,
let us embrace ourselves
And touch one's soul
The cold wind blowing
Whispers the moan
Of your delicate touch
I feel the electric chill
Down my spine.

Wrap your arms around me,
Protect me from the wintry cloak,
The frozen river
Melt it with your warm breath
You exhale from your lips
I can feel upon,
Let the river flow
Your fingers running
Along my skin.

You and I,
Let us sail together
Into the warm water
And hide from the wintry storm.

Women's Pride

She was born, they groaned
She was torn, they moaned

She cried, they sighed
She was ignored of her rights.

She was born, they adored

She was torn, they beloved
She cried, they dried
She had a fairy life.

She sobbed, she hoped

She wailed, she assailed
She tried, she fought
She filed her droit.

They set off to ride

the journey of pride.
Together they unveiled
the societies vile.

Happy Mother's Day

A Mother and a Child Was Born

The dark vault was filled with light
Echoed with delight
The iciness was taken over
A  warmness formed the cover
An upsurge in her spirit
With every passing day
The bulge she felt
She screeched with pain
The pain that brought a new life
A mother and a child was born.

Walking Out Of The Darkness

Sitting alone in the dark
Searching  for  directions
Trying to feel the numb heart
She decided to, for once, let herself flow
Allow herself to get swept away ;
With the emotions.

She finds tranquility in the darkness;
she can see through the darkness;
Darkness camouflages all her scars.
A beam of light can break her,
Break her into pieces;
Unleash her Bats.
Voids of perfidy pricks as she recalls,
She knows her emotional trauma will come alive
She’s afraid, what if the walls break down?

Deep down, she wants to feel the pain
to wash that pain away;
to feel her life;
to live it;
Tired of mere existence.
There’s an adrenaline rush in her body
She stands up to step out,
where the sun rays fall upon her
burning the pain,
releasing the heat inside.

To see the rays cut through her pain
extricating her of all the anguish,
making her feel alive once again.
For all it takes is a mustered strength
to bring her back into life.
